Dr. Muba Taher completed his medical school (1999) and Dermatology Residency (2004) training at the University of Alberta. He then pursued advanced training in dermatologic surgery, cutaneous oncology, and reconstructive skin surgery (mohs micrographic surgery) in Santa Monica and Los Angeles, California, where he worked and taught at the University of Southern California and at the University of California, Los Angeles. He completed a fellowship in Mohs Micrographic surgery during his time in the USA. He returned to Edmonton where he has been part of the clinical faculty of the department of medicine for the past 10 years.
Dr. Taher is a member of the University of Alberta Dermatology residency program training committee and an examiner in Dermatology for the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons. Currently he is also a board member of the Canadian Skin Cancer Foundation. In past years, he has served as a board member of the Canadian Society for Dermatologic Surgery and Medical Director of the Alberta Society of Melanoma. Dr. Taher was awarded the Young Dermatologist Volunteer award in 2010 by the Canadian Dermatology Association.
His research interests are reflected in his publication of papers relating to skin cancer, cutaneous histology, scar revision, and reconstructive skin surgery. Dr. Taher is currently the medical director of Edmonton Dermatology and Skin Surgery Centre in the beautiful neighbourhood of Windermere.
